World Environment Day

World Environment Day
World Environment Day is an annual event celebrated on June 5th to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage people to take action to protect the planet. The event was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, and since then, it has been celebrated in over 100 countries around the world.

The theme for World Environment Day changes each year, with a focus on a specific environmental issue. The theme for 2021 was “Ecosystem Restoration,” highlighting the importance of restoring degraded ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, and coral reefs. The theme for 2022 is “Biodiversity,” which aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting biodiversity and the need for urgent action to address the current biodiversity crisis.

World Environment Day is important because it raises awareness about environmental issues and the impact of human activities on the planet. It provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and governments to take action to protect the environment and promote sustainable practices. By participating in World Environment Day activities, people can learn more about the challenges facing our planet and the actions they can take to make a positive difference.

This year we decided to celebrate by planting trees at Farka Lake as a donation to the cities park.
